Spotter Recap: Chris Potter at Golden Apple Comics (Los Angeles)

Hey Gambit Spotters, we're starting something new here on the blog which will be dubbed Spotter Recap.

This new post type will be used to cover events such as conventions or signings where Gambit news is happening for reporting back to the Gambit fan masses. You'll be able to find these posts filed under "Spotter Recaps" in the "Category List" menu in the right-hand margin on the site.

Without further ado, I present to you the first (of hopefully many) Spotter Recaps on Gambit Spotting!

On Saturday February 26, 2025 Representatives from Topps were at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles, California for the launch event celebrating the Topps Finest X-Men 97 Trading cards. A representative from Gambit Spotting was there, live, for the launch and was lucky enough to score a couple of boxes of this highly anticipated set.

In attendance were Larry Houston (Producer/Director for X-Men TAS and Producer for X-Men 97), Lenore Zann (the voice of Rogue in X-Men TAS and X-Men 97) and the hard-to-catch Chris Potter (the voice of Gambit in X-Men TAS and Cable in X-Men 97). These lovely and integral parts of the X-Men animated universe opened their own packs of cards for the crowd, did a bit of Q & A regarding their part in X-Men history and then spent several hours at the conclusion of the event signing autographs and taking photos for excited fans.

The event featured a short presentation from Topps about what collectors can anticipate to find in their packages as well as information on the inserts, rare cards, and goodies hidden in some of the boxes. Complimentary five card packs were given to all in attendance, who then competed against each other for raffle tickets during a "pack war" to see who had the most powerful, biggest, and rarest mutants. At the end of the event several fresh boxes were given away to lucky raffle winners.

Thank you to Golden Apple Comics for hosting such a lovely event! Everyone I spoke to said they had a blast and loved going home with Topps merchandise.

This spotter was lucky to end up with three Gambits in her packs, including a Rare Golden Ultimates card and a Croptop Gambit "Previously on X-Men" card!

Here's some photos of the event!
